Antibody Identification Advanced Methods Program Overview

Program Description

This intermediate- to advanced-level course addresses techniques and methods used in complex serologic workups. The reagents and techniques used in antibody identification are described along with how to interpret the results obtained from this testing. Steps to take in serologic testing are coved for workups involving cold and warm agglutinins and allo- and autoantibodies. Case studies are presented to illustrate the appropriate techniques to use in different types of serologic investigation.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the workshop, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss antibody identification reagents, techniques and interpretation
  • Explain special techniques used for complex workups
  • Identify steps to take next when performing workups
  • Decide on the appropriate technique for serologic investigation

Speaker Credentials

Marie P. Holub, MA, MT(ASCP) SBB, is currently a Sr. Clinical Lab Specialist in the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory. Marie was previously the education coordinator for Blood Systems Laboratories and the Program Director for the Blood Bank Technology program.
